What wavemakers do
Constant and changing patterns of circulation are critical to the supply of oxygen and nutrients in your tank. These currents also help carry waste products away from delicate invertebrates. Wavemaking machines simulate the natural motion of the sea, which invertebrates have become used to over millions of years. Good units actually create randomly flowing, ever-changing water currents virtually indistinguishable from the natural environment. These currents are produced for a few minutes at a time, but are enough to maintain a remarkably natural aquarium environment.
